Tuesday
Weather
A very similar day to Monday in terms of the flawless sunshine being accompanied by gentler breezes than many recent days. The temperature not climbing higher than 14-15°C, but this feeling very pleasant and spring-like, especially in central and western parts. On this occasion, the breeze will be a force 2-3 E’ly in the morning, gradually strengthening to force 3-4 ENE’ly in the afternoon. The morning will therefore feel loveliest. Overnight, the wind will fall lighter again, so the most likely minimum will be around 7°C.
Surf and the Water
Clean 1-2 foot waves for longboarders in the morning, a little choppy in the afternoon though. Low tide will be around 11am and high tide around 5pm (7.1m).
Wednesday
Weather
Perhaps rather calm for the first half of the morning, but then a force 4-5 NE’ly wind is expected to develop through the rest of the day, meaning that the wall to wall sunshine will have a chillier feel and the max temp will only be about 13°C. The south coast will definitely be the best place to find shelter and a more comfortable feeling. Overnight, that brisk wind will keep temperatures a little higher than the previous night, so we will probably only fall to 8 or 9°C.
Surf and the Water
A decent 3 foot swell on the west coast, but this will be rather ruined by the wind for the most part. However, if you get up early then there could be some reasonably clean waves to enjoy. As for the swimming conditions, they will definitely be best on the south coast. High tides will be at 5:20am and 5:40pm (7.5m and 7.7m respectively). Low tide will be at 11:50am.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
High cloud will make the sunshine more hazy than the previous days, but it will still pretty perfect and spring like, especially as the wind will most likely ease off again… Thursday with a force 3-4 NE’ly and a max temp of 13°C, Friday with a force 2-3 ENE’ly and a max temp of 15°C.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be 2 feet on Thursday morning then just 1 foot through the rest of Thursday and through Friday. Friday will generally be the best day for a sea swim, although Thursday will be pretty good down on the south coast. High tides will be around dawn and dinner time (increasing from 8.1m on Thursday morning to 8.7m on Friday evening. Low tides will be at lunchtime.
The Weekend
Weather
A change of weather to cloudier skies with the risk of the odd light shower. Winds will be extremely light though, and they will come from an ESE’ly direction on Saturday, followed by a SSW’ly direction on Sunday. Both of these directions are likely to be the source of relatively warm air, so we should still see peak temperatures of around 16°C, even though the sunshine will be in much shorter supply than the previous days.
Surf and the Water
Clean but tiny waves on Saturday (only around 1 foot), then a decent 3 foot swell looking likely for Sunday. Tides will be high around breakfast time and dusk (increasing from 8.9m on Saturday to 9.1m on Sunday). Low tides will be in the early afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Thursday…
