Easter Sunday
Weather
A cloudy but mostly dry day, with a top temp of 13-14°C, which is a couple of degrees cooler than Saturday was. The wind will be a moderate force 4 NE’ly in the morning, changing to a light force 3 N’ly in the afternoon, then a light force 2 NW’ly around dusk, meaning that the south coast of the Island will therefore be warmest throughout. If there is a chance of rain in the evening, but nothing particularly heavy or persistent.
Surf and the Water
Maybe some 2 foot surf at dawn, but this is also when it will be messiest. By evening time it will be much cleaner but probably only 1 foot by then. The south-coast swimming conditions will really be the thing to rave about, especially late morning when the tide will be highest (6.9m at 11:30am). Low water will be shortly before dawn and then again at 5:40pm.
Bank Holiday Monday
Weather
A little drizzle around breakfast time and perhaps a brief shower or two around lunchtime. We should then be in for an increasingly sunny afternoon, but the breeze will unfortunately spruce up a little too, increasing from a light force 2-3 WSW’ly in the morning to a moderate force 4 WNW’ly in the afternoon. On balance, this should lead to the same 13-14°C maximum as the previous day.
Surf and the Water
Cleanish 1-2 foot surf early morning, changing to choppy 2-3 foot surf by evening. Good east-coast swimming conditions throughout. Tides will be low around 6:30am and 7pm. High tide will be just a tiddler… 6.6m at 12:45pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
Both days will have a mix of cloud and sunshine and the majority of that sunshine will be in the afternoons. As for the cloudy mornings… Tuesday’s will only come with the slight chance of a brief shower, but Wednesday’s will come with quite a hefty dose of rain (probably between 5 and 10mm). The afternoons should have pleasantly gentle breezes (S’ly on Tuesday and E’ly on Wednesday) which will probably lead to the same max temp as the previous two days… 13-14°C (don’t forget your suncream, now that the UV index is reaching 6 during sunny lunchtimes).
Surf and the Water
Super-clean west-coast surf, 3-4 feet on Tuesday then 2 feet on Wednesday. Swimming conditions will generally be best on the west coast too. Low tides will be in the early/mid-mornings and high tides in the early/mid-afternoons (6.6m and 7.1m respectively).
Thursday and Friday
Weather
The north easterly breeze will vary between light force 2 and moderate force 4, which means that the 14°C max temps should feel comfortable. The weather should be partly sunny and mostly dry. There’s just the odd shower that will develop mid-Channel and may continue to pass over the Islands, but these would be very few and far between. The south coast will always be the place that feels warmest.
Surf and the Water
2-3 foot surf on Thursday, increasing to about 5 feet on Friday. Both days slightly mushed up by the crosswind, but it won’t be very strong, so the damage will only be minor. Swimming conditions will be lovelies on the south coast. Tides will be low in the late mornings and high towards dinner time (7.8m and 8.5m respectively).
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday morning…
