Sunday
Weather
Some heavy showers around dawn, maybe thundery, maybe lingering until mid/late morning. Likely dry for the remainder of the day, but there will certainly be some more thunderstorms over mainland France, especially Normandy, so there will always be the slight risk that one might make the journey across the water. Skies will be mostly cloudy, but some shafts of sunshine should sneak through the cracks and with very light breezes (probably force 2 ESE’ly) it ought to feel lovely and warm… max temp 17°C.
Surf and the Water
Smooth swimming conditions in most bays but especially the north and west. There’s a chance of a surfable wave, most wave models predict nothing but there is one that predicts a pulse of long-period swell, which could produce some clean 3 foot sets on the reefs. It’s only an outside chance though, because this model is out on its own with its optimism. Tides will be 8.4m high around 6:30am and 8.6m high around 7pm. Low tide will be at 1Pm.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
A mix of cloud and sunshine, along with virtually no wind on Monday and only a light force 3 SE’ly on Tuesday. This will make for warm and pleasant conditions, with the most likely maxima being 17-18°C on Monday and then 18-19°C on Tuesday. Just like on Sunday, the nearby continent will spawn thunderstorms each afternoon, and there is only a very small chance that they will drift over the Islands in the evenings.
Surf and the Water
Again, like Sunday, there’s a slim chance of some decent little waves on Monday, but Tuesday is looking almost certainly flat. Both days should be great for sea swimming… all coasts pretty smooth but the west coast being the cream of the crop. High tides will be at breakfast time and about an hour before sunset (generally around 8.6m). Low tides will be in the early afternoons.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
Three very similar days to what we became accustomed to last week… dry and sunny but somewhat spoilt by a moderate to fresh NE’ly wind. That new wind-flow will lead to a tumble in temperatures, despite the glorious blue sky… most likely maxima of 18, 15 and 16°C respectively.
Surf and the Water
High tides will be around/shortly after breakfast time and dusk. Low tides mid-afternoon. Waves will be small and choppy. The smooth south-coast swimming conditions will be the main event.
Weather
Carrying on with the NE’ly flow but possibly relaxing to light force 3, allowing- temperatures to possibly climb to 15 or 16°C again. The dryness and sunshine are certain, it’s the wind and temperature that aren’t. So at this stage, I can’t say whether its T-shirt or sweater weather, but it should be absolutely fine for outdoor sports, parties and barbecues etc. Once again, the south coast will generally be the warmest.
Surf and the Water
It’s the back end of the forecast, so it can’t be relied upon too heavily. However, the current expectation is for a 2-3 foot swell to develop, but it might regrettably be chopped up by a moderate cross-shore wind. Once again, the swimming conditions will be smoothest on the south coast. Tides will be in the mid-mornings and low in the late afternoon.
The next forecast update will be on Thursday…
