Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 15 May 2025

Friday

Weather

Straight forward sunny and maybe just a tad warmer than on Thursday. Same old moderate force 4 NE’ly wind, but his time a max temp of 16-17°C. The high UV index (6) will demand some sort of sun protection during the middle part of the day, but it will certainly be a lovely day to sunbathe and then to light up the barbecue in the evening. The best shelter for such activities will be on the south coast beaches and in the northern corners of the west-coast bays.

Surf and the Water

Probably a pulse of 1-2 foot swell, but the cross-shore wind will be strong enough to spoil it for surfers, whilst possibly giving a little opportunity to kitesurfers. Swimming conditions will be best along the south coast and in the northern corners of the west-coast bays. Tides will be 8.0m high around 9:10am and low at 3:45pm.

The Weekend

Weather

Another couple of mostly sunny days, the only exception being Saturday morning, which could be on the cloudy side. Saturday will also be windier than Sunday, so it is all suggesting that it would be best to get jobs done nice and early, leaving the latter part of the weekend for pure enjoyment. Winds will be moderate force 4 NE’ly on Saturday, then light force 2-3 ENE’ly on Sunday, leading to max temps of 16 and 18°C respectively.

Surf and the Water

2 foot surf, slightly ruined by the wind on Saturday, but lovely and clean on Sunday. Swimming conditions will be smoothest on the south coast on Saturday, then pretty good on all coasts for Sunday. Tides will be high in the mid mornings (9.2m and 8.8m respectively) and low in the late afternoons.

Next Week

Weather

Another mostly fine and dry week, with winds mainly coming from a N’ly or NE’ly direction, meaning that the air will be beautifully clear for the most part but never get especially hot. The most likely daily maxima being around 16°C. The only exception to this generally settled weather pattern will be Tuesday and Wednesday, when a low pressure system is expected to bulge northwards from Biscay and France, intensifying the NE’ly wind to fresh force 5 or perhaps briefly strong force 6, whilst introducing the threat (but not the absolute promise) of thundery showers.

Surf and the Water

Cleanish surf Monday, Thursday and Friday, probably ruined by the cross-chop on Tuesday and Wednesday. All of it roughly 2 feet in height, and probably quite weak. The south coast will continue to offer the smoothest conditions for swimmers. Tides will be medium-sized, with highs progressing each day from late morning on Monday to late afternoon by Friday.

The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
