Monday
Weather
Sunny!.. well that was easy. I could give you a little more detail though. Firstly it will be windier than on Sunday. For most of the day it will be a moderate force 4 ENE’ly, but through the early afternoon it might slip up to fresh force 5. This means that the temperature will be a smidge lower, because the influence of the sea will be greater than that of the land. The max will be between 16 and 17°C during the afternoon (always feeling warmest along the sheltered south coast cliff-paths and beaches).
Surf and the Water
Choppy little one-foot waves, pretty much unsurfable. Perhaps enough wind for kitesurfers though, and certainly some smooth swimming conditions in the shelter of the south-coast cliffs. High tide will be about 7.1m at 11:30am. Low tide will be around 5:40pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
The breeze will be NW’ly through these two days, and it will also be a tad lighter than on Monday (mainly light force 2-3, perhaps momentarily moderate force 4 around lunchtime). Skies will be cloudier than of late… partly cloudy on Tuesday, then mostly cloudy and perhaps showery through Wednesday. If those showers do materialise then we will only receive something like 2-4mm of rain, but in the context of such a mega-dry spring, that will certainly be better than nothing. Max temps will be about 18°C on Tuesday, then 15-16°C on Wednesday.
Surf and the Water
2-foot surf both days, rather choppy in the middle of the day, but perhaps quite clean in the early mornings or in the evenings. Swimming conditions will be best on the south and east coasts. High tides will be at lunchtime (7m and 7.1m respectively). Low tides will be around breakfast time and in the evenings.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Two sunny days, with only a few bubbly clouds at times. The wind will flip flop around between W’ly and NE’ly, mostly light force 3, only just touching moderate force 4 at times. The south coast will generally feel warmest on Thursday and the east coast on Friday, but the other areas will be almost as lovely. Temperatures very similar to previous days, peaking around 16°C
Surf and the Water
Sloppy 1-foot surf, pretty much unrideable. Swimming conditions will be best on the south coast on Thursday, then on the east coast on Friday. Low tides will be around 9am Thursday and 10am Friday. High tides will be roughly 7.4m around 3pm Thursday, then 7.9m around 4pm Friday.
The Weekend
Weather
Sunshine and showers for this coming weekend… after all the recent dryness and sunshine it’s strange to think of that as normal, but here in the Channel Islands, it’s actually the prolonged fine weather that’s slightly less normal. Saturday will have an increasing SW’ly wind, with showers developing towards the end of the day, then Sunday will have a consistent force 4-5 WSW’ly, with showers skewed more towards the beginning of the day. Temperatures will peak around 15°C in most areas but probably 16-17°C in Town.
Surf and the Water
Sloppy 1-foot surf on Saturday, but maybe some rideable 2-foot waves on Sunday. Swimming conditions will be best on the east coast, but the other coasts will be pretty smooth when the winds are at their lightest. Low tides will be around 11am Saturday and midday Sunday. High tides will be roughly 8.4m around 5pm Saturday, then 8.8m around 6pm Sunday.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday…
