Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday
Weather
Saturday’s mist, murk and somewhat disruptive fog should all be gone. However, it will be replaced by cooler air and a force 4-5 W’ly wind, which won’t feel especially pleasant. Skies will be an alternating sequence of cloudy and sunny (sunniest during the afternoons). Showers will be in the area, so some of them might hit us, but they will be few and far between, so the vast majority of the time will be dry, especially during the afternoons. Town and Fermain will be the most sheltered and therefore warmest areas… peaking around 16°C, whilst the rest of the Island struggle to exceed 15°C. Nights will be reasonably mild though, falling now lower than 12°C.
Surf and the Water
Improving surf, although constantly choppy. Size-wise, it should increase from 3 feet to 5 feet through Sunday, then maintain that size through BH Monday. As for other activities, the north and west should be good for windsurfing and kitesurfing, whilst the east coast is good for swimming. Tides will be low at lunchtime and high around dawn and in the evenings (roughly 6pm Sunday and 7pm BH Monday). Those highs will increase from 8.7m Sunday morning to 9.2m Monday evening.
Tuesday to Friday
Weather
The odd bright interval on Tuesday and Wednesday, but generally cloudy with occasional showers. Some of those showers will be quite heavy and blustery, especially on Tuesday night and perhaps on Wednesday morning. Thursday should be an improving day… likely dry and increasingly sunny, with the fresh force 5 WSW’ly wind of the previous days, gradually relaxing to light force 3 WNW’ly. Friday will be the cream of the crop though, with hazy sunshine and barely only a light and variable breeze throughout the day. This means that although, we only expect a top temp of 15-16°C each day, these temps will be confined to the shelter of Town and Fermain on Tuesday and Wednesday, but they should be Island-wide on Thursday and Friday.
Surf and the Water
Choppy but fun and very surfable waves every day at least as far as Thursday lunchtime, then hopefully something cleaner and of higher quality on Thursday afternoon and through Friday. Swimming conditions will be best in the east Monday to midday Thursday, but all coasts should be lovely thereafter. Tides will be high in the mornings and evenings (ranging in height between 8.9m and 9.4m). Low tides will be in the early to mid-afternoons.
The Weekend
Weather
It looks as though both days will be relatively calm and mostly sunny, but there is a high chance that showers will come either in the evenings or during the middle of the nights. Computer models are suggesting that Saturday evening’s/night’s showers could be heavy and thundery, but at this range it’s impossible to be confident about such detail. The days are certainly looking good though, with barely a breath of wind on Saturday and then just a light force 3 WSW’ly on Sunday. This should result in max temps of about 17-18°C. Important to also note that the UV index will peak at 7, so unprotected skin will burn very easily during the middle part of the day.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean surf on Saturday, then semi-clean surf on Sunday… most likely 2-3 feet both days. Swimming conditions will be good on all coasts. Tides will be high in the late mornings… 8.3m and 7.8m respectively. Low tides will be in the late afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Tuesday morning…
