Monday
Weather
Some showers likely around the morning rush hour, but likely dry after that. Fresh force 5 NW’ly winds in the morning, relaxing to moderate force 4 by early afternoon, but not getting down to light force 3 until late at night. This wind will have a chilly feeling despite the increasing sunshine. Through the morning, skies will be about as cloudy as they were on Sunday afternoon, but the afternoon should then become much much sunnier. This will result in a max temp of 19°C in most areas, but 20°C in Town and in the sheltered south-coast nooks and crannies. Overnight, under clear skies, the temperature will fall to about 14°C.
Surf and the Water
Very messy 3-4 foot waves, barely surfable, but very good for windsurfing and kitesurfing in the morning. Swimming conditions will be great on the south coast and in one or two east coast nooks, such as Fermain. Tides will be low around 11am and high around 5pm (7.3m).
Tuesday
Weather
This is the transition day, between the chilly weekend (plus Monday) and the toasty warm second half of the week. For Tuesday we will have roughly the same wind direction as on Monday (NNW’ly) but it will be mostly light force 3, and the sun should be blazing all day long, so it will feel much more pleasant, even though temperatures will only be about half a degree higher… max 20-21°C. Overnight it will actually be cooler, with a min temp of about 13°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be 2 feet and sloppy, very unlikely to be of any use to anyone. However, the swimming conditions will be lovely in places, mainly down on the south coast again. Tides will be low around 11:45am and high around 5:50pm (7.7m).
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
Some very easy weather forecasting to do on these three days… super-sunny by day and starry by night, very little wind… just a force 2 N’ly on Wednesday, a force 2 NE’ly on Thursday and then a force 3 E’ly on Friday. These subtle changes in the direction of the breeze will lead to the import of warmer air, meaning that it will feel as though summer has properly returned. Max temps 22°C, 25°C and 27°C respectively. Min temps 14°C, 16°C and 18°C resepctively.
Surf and the Water
Flat surf Wednesday and Thursday. Maybe (doubtful but possible) 1-2 feet on Friday. Swimming will be lovely on all coasts, just chose your favourite spot on your favourite tide. Lows will be around lunchtime. Highs will be around breakfast time and dinner time (increasing incrementally from 7.6m on Wednesday morning to 8.6m on Friday evening).
The Weekend
Weather
Hotter again, with pure sunshine and the continuation of an E’ly breeze on Saturday. Sunday’s sunshine will turn hazy and then the sky will becom generally cloudy by dusk. The slim chance of a thunderstorm that night, but my emphasis is definitely on the word slim. Max temps probably about 28°C each day. Min temps likely 17-18°C on Saturday night and 19-20°C on Sunday night.
Surf and the Water
Flat surf again (not at all unusual in July I’m afraid). Amazing weather for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and coasteering though. Tides will be high around breakfast time and dusk (increasing incrementally from 8.4m on Saturday morning to 8.8m on Sunday evening). Low tides will be close to 3pm.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday evening …
