Sunday
Weather
Dawn will have a fresh force 5 S’ly wind, veering to a moderate force 4 SW’ly by lunchtime and then returning to a fresh S’ly by dusk. This movement of the airflow will all come around showery episodes… dawn and dusk are likely to be particularly heavy and thundery, but the showers in the middle of the day are expected to be a bit gentler. Otherwise, we will see a few cloudbreaks that allow a sunny spell or two. All a bit few and far between though, so it’s unlikely that we will do any better than 20°C for the max temp (possibly 21°C in Town).
Surf and the Water
Early morning for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Just about any time for surfing (especially lunchtime), with clean 3-4 foot waves all day long. Swimmers will find shelter on the north coast or at the southern ends of the east and west coast Bays. Low tide will be around 8:45am, then high tide will be around 3pm (7.5m).
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
By Monday morning, we will have a fresh force 5 W’ly wind and that will stay with us all day, possibly bringing one or two brief showers, but mainly bringing long spells of dry weather and partial sunshine. Tuesday however, quite different, the wind just a light force 3 SW’ly, but the skies cloudy throughout, with cloudy skies throughout, light showers coming and going the morning and early afternoon, then much heavier and more prolonged rain in the late afternoon and evening. After such prolonged dryness, the heavy deluges this week will really be quite a change. Temperatures unremarkable though, only peaking around the 20-21°C mark each day (generally always warmest in Town).
Surf and the Water
The surf will be 6 feet and very choppy on Monday then 3 feet and much cleaner on Tuesday. Monday definitely the best day for windsurfing and Kitesurfing. The east coast definitely best for swimming at any time. Tides will be low mid-morning and high in the late afternoons (7.5m and 8m respectively.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
With a force 3-4 NW’ly wind on these three days, we will see very modest temperatures but the weather should become mostly fine and dry. The south and east coast always offering the best opportunities to catch good summer feelings, by hitting temperatures that are marginally above 20°C rather than marginally below. Although it will always be a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, we will probably find that the mornings are cloudiest and the afternoons and evenings are sunniest. The odd light shower is possible, but generally more likely in the night time than the day.
Surf and the Water
Tiny, weak and generally forgettable surf conditions. Lovely for swimming on the south and east coasts, especially the east when the tide is high and the south when the tide is low. Highs will be around breakfast time and in the evenings (increasing from 8m on Wednesday morning to 9.1m on Friday evening). Lows will be around lunchtime.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday morning…
