Wednesday
Weather
Some pre-dawn rain looks certain, but its very uncertain whether any further showers will hit the Islands, As for sunshine, that will be on and off through the morning, but it should be the dominant feature through the afternoon. The breeze will be NW’ly though (force 2-3 gradually inceasing moderate force 4), so the air won’t be especially warm, only peaking around 20-21°C by day and then falling to about 15°C overnight.
Surf and the Water
Knee-high waves at best, but nice and clean in the morning. Great swimming conditions on all coasts in the morning and then more confined to the south coast in the afternoon. Low tide will be at lunchtime, high tide will be around 6am and 6:30pm (8m and 8.4m respectively).
Thursday and Friday
Weather
The wind will be the same as on Wednesday… NW’ly force 2-3 in the mornings then occasionally force 4 in the afternoons, so we can’t expect any major increase in temperature, although with copious sunshine, we should see an increase of about half a degree per day such that we might climb as high as 22°C in Town, and on sheltered beaches like Fermain, Petit Bot and Moulin Huet. Night time minimums around 15°C again.
Surf and the Water
Clean 2 foot surf on Thursday and 1 foot surf on Friday, once again best suited to longboarders and learners. Swimming/kayaking/paddleboarding conditions should be lovely and smooth on the south and east coasts. Tides will be high at breakfast time and dinner time (increasing from 8.4m Thursday morning to 9.1m Friday evening). Low water will be around lunchtime.
The Weekend
Weather
Saturday looks most probably dry. Sunday might also be so, but that one is a lot less certain, on account of a big blob of heavy rain that is expected to swing into France, crossing the mouth of the Channel and possibly brushing Guernsey en-route. Aside from that rain risk, we are probably looking at a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine through both days, with light force 3 WNW’ly breezes. Temperatures climbing to about 21°C both days, maybe 22°C on Saturday, maybe just 20°C on Sunday. Town always slightly warmer than elsewhere.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be better than the last few days, still lumpy in texture due to the onshore wind, but definitely a bit bigger and juicier, varying between 2 and 4 feet as the tides ebb and flow. High water will be around breakfast time and dusk (ranging between 8.9m and 9.3m). Low water will be in the early to mid afternoons.
The next forecast update will most likely be on Friday evening…
