Friday and Saturday
Weather
A couple of gorgeously sunny days, two of this week’s finest. Not especially warm though, Wednesday was probably the best for that. These days will have a NNW’ly airflow, which will bring incredibly clear air, with fantastic views into the far distance. Temperatures will be modest though, peaking around 21°C on Friday and 22°C on Saturday. Friday’s wind will be mostly moderate force 4, so a bit of south-coast shelter will be required to feel a little warmer. Saturday’s breeze will only be light force 3, so most areas should feel rather lovely on that day.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be 2 feet and sloppy both days, probably best on Saturday due to the slight reduction in the onshore wind. Swimming conditions will remain best on the south and east coasts. High tides will be around lunchtime (7.3m on Friday and 6.9m Saturday). Low tide will be around 6am and then again at dinnertime.
Sunday and Monday
Weather
Maybe some moments of sunshine on Monday morning, but we are generally looking at two cloudy days here. Some of it damp aswell… a few drizzly moments on Sunday afternoon and then some heavier rain on Monday evening. Winds will be WSW’ly throughout… light force 3 in the mornings and moderate force 4 in the afternoons and then most significantly picking up to strong force 6 or maybe even strong force 7 on Monday night (if you’re thinking of going camping that night then I hope your tent-pegs and your ear-plugs will be up to the job. Despite the deterioration in weather, the temperatures won’t be much different from Friday and Saturday… peaking around 20°C in most areas, but sneaking up to 21°C in Town.
Surf and the Water
The surf will most likely be flat on Sunday, then it will gradually increase to 4 feet (albeit very choppy) as the cross-onshore wind really ramps up in the evening. Swimming conditions will be best on the east coast, but also in some cosy western and northern nooks. Low tide will be around breakfast time and dusk. High tide will be early afternoon (very small… only 6.6m both days).
The Rest of Next Week
Weather
After that little onslaught of unseasonable unsettledness, we will breath a sigh of relief as we welcome dryness, sunshine and proper summer heat. Tuesday will bring the sunshine, but it will take all day for the WNW’ly wind to wind down from strong force 6 to light force 3. As such, we can’t expect anything warmer than 21°C on that day. However, with barely a breath of wind, a dry but rather cloudy Wednesday could climb as high as 23°C. Thursday then, with a full day of sunshine and continental SE’ly breezes, we should reach a lofty max of 27-28°C. Friday possibly holding on to Thursday’s heat, or possibly breaking it down with cloudier skies and the threat of thundery showers.
Surf and the Water
Albeit onshore, Monday night’s wind will certainly leave some chunky waves for surfers on Tuesday. Wednesday will then have super-clean waves of about 4 feet in the morning and 2-3 feet in the afternoon. Thursday… 1-2 feet and clean. Friday hopefully the same but most probably flat. Swimming conditions will be best on the south and east coasts on Tuesday, all coasts on Wednesday, then on the west coast Thusday and Friday. Low tides will move a little each day (late mornngs Tueday and Wednesday, lunchtime Thursday and Friday). High tides will bump forward as well (late afternoons Tuesday and Wednesday, dinnertime Thursday and Friday).
The next forecast update will be on Saturday evening…
