Thursday and Friday
Weather
The wind will be force 3-4 in the mornings and force 4-5 in the afternoons, mostly SW’ly on Thursday and then W’ly on Friday. This means that the east coast will always feel warmest, although all areas will see some sunshine. Likewise, all areas will see some fairly heavy showers. The bulk of the sunshine in the afternoons and the majority of the showers in the mornings and the evenings. Max temps will be about 19-20°C, so nothing special for late August (payback for that gorgeous Bank Holiday). Overnight minima will be about 14°C.
Surf and the Water
Cleanish 5 foot west-coast surf on Thursday, down to a choppy 4 foot on Friday. The smoothest swimming conditions always being in the east. High tides will be in the late mornings, about 8.5m on Thursday and 8m on Friday. Low tides will be in the late afternoons.
The Weekend
c### Weather Not massively different from the previous days, just windier… strong force 6 SSW’ly on Saturday, then fresh force 5 on Sunday. The heaviest rain will be in the evenings, but there’s also likely to be a couple of brief showers earlier in the day as well. Temperatures peaking around 20°C each day, so once again… not feeling very special at all.
Surf and the Water
More semi-chunky surf, 3-4 feet on Saturday and about 5 feet on Sunday… both days pretty clean and not at all bad for windsurfers and kitesurfers either. High tide will be the best moment for swimmers, keeping close to the southern corners of the west-coast bays, or just staying on the most sheltered north and east coasts. High tides will be 7.5m at 11:10am Saturday and 7.1m at 11:40am Sunday. Low tides will be around dinnertime.
Next Week
Weather
Winds will be gentler at the weekend… force 4 WSW’ly on Monday, then force 2-3 S’ly on Tuesday, backing to a similarly gentle NE’ly on Wednesday and then a NW’ly on Thursday and Friday. The variation in wind direction will be due to low pressure systems passing eastwards over Northern France. Their proximity means that it will be another week of sunshine and showers, possibly with one or two longer spells of rain. Max temepratures staying very close to 20°C. Min temps staying very close to 14°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will generally be around 4-5 feet and often quite clean, which is pretty special for the time of year, even if the weather and the temperature are not so much. Tides will be high around lunchtime at the start of the week and around dinnertime by the end… 6.3m at the smallest on Tuesday and Wednesday. 8.1m at the largest on Friday.
The next forecast update will most likely be on Friday evening…
