Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 29 August 2025

Saturday

Weather

Some brightness in the morning for sure, but it will generally be an increasingly cloudy affair, with SSW’ly winds increasing as well… force 4 at breakfast time and force 5 through the majority of the afternoon and evening. As for rainfall, we will probably see the first spits and spots around 1pm, and then it will be light and intermittent, until we get a heavier burst for an hour or two around dinnertime. The air will be mild though, peaking about a degree higher than on Friday, despite the lack of sunshine… 20-21°C for the max.

Surf and the Water

Clean surf that’s for sure. Size-wise it’s not so certain… probably 3-4 feet at dawn decreasing 2-3 feet by dusk. Great conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing too, especially in the afternoon. High water will be 7.5m at 11:10am. Low water will be at 7:20pm.

Sunday and Monday

Weather

A couple of days that look very similar to the Friday we have just had… sunny spells and just the chance of catching one or two brief showers. Force 4-5 winds (SW’ly on Sunday, then WSW’ly on Monday). Max temps around 20°C on Sunday and 19°C on Monday.

Surf and the Water

The cleanest waves will be on Sunday but the biggest waves will be on Monday. Both days very good for August… 4-5 foot on Sunday and 6-8 foot on Monday. Good conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing, especially Monday. High water will be 7.1m at 11:40am Sunday, then 6.6m at 12:30pm Monday. Low water will be around 6pm and 7pm respectively.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

These look like the wettest and windiest days of the forecast period, due to low pressure systems passing directly over the Channel both days. This means that the S’ly winds will be very strong, possibly force 7 at the strongest moments each day. The rain will be heavier and more prolonged than the other days too… likely racking up 10-15mm each day. Timings are uncertain but it currently looks as though the majority of Tuesday’s rain will be in the first half of the day and the majority of Wednesday’s will be in the second. The opposite ends of the days might see some brief sunny spells but that might prove to be a little too optimistic.

Surf and the Water

Likely clean 4-5 foot surf both day, but the offshore wind might be so strong at times that it’s all a bit difficult to manage. Fantastic for windsurfing and kitesurfing though. Low water will be around 8am Tuesday and 9:45am Wednesday. High water will be 6.6m at 2:15pm Tuesday and 6.8m around 4pm Wednesday.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

Nothing special, but it looks as though we should see some kind of relaxation in the weather through these two days. Thursday possibly as wet as the previous days but with lighter winds. Friday most likely dry and increasingly sunny, meaning that we might just see a more respectable temperature of something like 22°C. A lot can happen in a week though, in this nuanced world of weather forecasting. So the best approach is to prepare for the worst, whilst hoping for the best and keeping a relaxed eye on the updates.

Surf and the Water

The size and quality of the surf is very uncertain on these two days, but I think there will definitely be something half decent to play with, and that may well prove to be a massive understatement. Tides will be low around 11am and midday respectively. High water will be around dinnertime.

The next forecast update will most likely be on Monday morning…
