Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 10 September 2025

Thursday

Weather

Fresh force 5 WSW’ly winds in the morning, veering to a straight W’ly direction in the afternoon. This will bring cool air but mostly sunny skies, with the showers being few and far between, and never lasting longer than a few minutes. Temperatures will only peak around 17°C in most areas, whilst just tickling 18°C in Town. Chilly overnight too, with a minimum of 12°C and a wind-chill effect that makes it feel about 4-5°C cooler than that.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be 4-5 feet and choppy. Quite fun in those brief windows that the big tides allow. The west and north coasts will be prime for windsurfing and kitesurfing, whilst the east coast (especially Fermain) will be best for swimming. Tides will still be pretty massive, but less so than the previous days. High water will be about 9.5m at 9:40am and at 10pm. Low water will be at 4pm.

Friday

Weather

Winds will be marginally less strong (force 4-5) and will come from a straight SW’ly direction. However, the skies will be cloudier and the showers more frequent and prolonged (especially in the evening). So all parishes will probably be a degree cooler than on Thursday, making it just as chilly as Wednesday was, or perhaps even more so. Rainfall amounts will be about 8-10mm in total, so there will probably be puddles on the roads and pavements throughout.

Surf and the Water

Slightly cleaner surf, possibly a little bigger too (roughly 6 feet on the biggest sets). Great again for surfing and windsurfing in the north and west, whilst swimming is best reserved for the sheltered east. High tide will be 9.1m high at 10:20am and 8.9m at 10:40pm. Low tide will be at 4:40pm.

The Weekend

Weather

Remaining decidedly unsettled. Saturday being best by a whisker, because the WSW’ly wind will only be force 4-5. On Sunday the wind will back SSW’ly and increase to strong force 6-7. Rainfall on Saturday will be short sharp showers, punctuated by much longer sunny spells. On Sunday the rain will be persistent and probably heavier too, meaning that we could receive as much as 20mm on that day, leading to some very large and long-lasting puddles. Temperatures will peak around 18-19°C each day.

Surf and the Water

The waves will be about 5 feet and semi-clean on Saturday, then just 3-4 feet but quite a lot cleaner on Sunday. Winds will be great for windsurfing and kitesurfing, but difficult for surfers to paddle against, especially on Sunday. Tides will be 8:5m high at 11am Saturday and 7.8m high at 11:40am Sunday. Low tides will be around dinnertime.

Monday to Wednesday

Weather

Sunny spells and brief blustery showers on Monday and Tuesday, then lighter winds but much wetter weather on Wednesday. Those winds coming firmly from the west on Monday and Tuesday, then from the southwest on Wednesday. Temperatures remaining around 18°C for the maxima and around 12°C for the minima.

Surf and the Water

Choppy surf on Monday and Tuesday, then cleanish surf on Wednesday. Wave-heights gradually shrinking from 8-10 feet on Monday to about 4 feet on Wednesday. Tides always small, with early afternoon highs of between 6.8m and 7.2m. Low tides will be around breakfast time.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

It’s too far away to be confident about, but the current expectation is that we will finally return to settled weather, with both days being mostly sunny… Thursday still quite windy, but Friday falling beautifully calm. If this pans out as expected, then we should hopefully see temperatures return to the low twenties by Friday afternoon.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be about 3 feet and choppy on Thursday, but hopefully 4 feet and clean on Friday. It’s a long way off though, so that forecast is very uncertain. Tides are much easier to predict, with lows around midday and highs around dawn and dinnertime (increasing from 7.4m on Thursday morning to 8.5m on Friday evening).

The next forecast update will be on Friday evening or Saturday morning…
