Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 08 October 2025

Thursday and Friday

Weather

The wind will only be light force 3, so it won’t have much of a chill factor, but it will start Thursday as a NNW’ly and then nudge gradually around to an ENE’ly by the end of Friday, none of it bringing particularly warm air, so we will probably only see maxima of 16°C-17°C, despite plenty of sunny spells (especially on Thursday). It will also be dry throughout, making it ideal for most outdoor activity. If a nice long walk is what you have planned, then the south coast will proably be the loveliest place to do this. As for the night time, Thursday night should be a good one for seeing some shooting stars (Draconids meteor shower) if the moonlight isn’t too much of an obscurant. Best wear a wooly hat and jumper though, with a minimum of 9-10°C expected.

Surf and the Water

Cleanish waves both days, starting Thursday around 3 feet then finishing around 2 feet and holding thereabouts throughout Friday. Swimming conditions will be pretty nice everywhere but best of all along the south coast. High tides will be close to 9am and 9pm (ranging between 9.4m and 9.8m). Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.

The Weekend

Weather

Carrying on with the ENE’ly wind direction, but increasing to moderate force 4, so possibly feeling a little chillier. This could lead to a few showers eventually developing near the Dover Strait and then feeding towards us. However, it would only be spits and spots if any of them were to hit us at all. It’s uncertain how much sunshine will sneak between the clouds, especially now that the autumn sun doesn’t stand so tall anymore. The most likely max will be 16°C each day, but it could be a degree either side of that. As for the overnight temperature, with a bit more cloud and wind, it probably won’t drop any lower than 12-13°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf will most likely be flat, but there’s a slim chance of some rideable 1-2 footers on Saurday morning. The best spots for swimming will be in the northern corners of the west-coast bays, or in the eastern corners of the south-coast bays. Tides will be 9.1m 10am on Saturday, and then 8.4m at 10:40am on Sunday. Lows will be in the late afternoons.

Next Week

Weather

A week of brisk and rather tedious E’ly winds (force 4-5), bringing a mix of cloud, sunshine and just the remotest chance of a brief light shower. Max temps will be around 15-16°C and min temps around 13°C.

Surf and the Water

Unfortunately the surf is looking flat, because all these ex-hurricanes and tropical storms that are swirling around the Atlantic are just a bit too far south to bless us with any of their bounty. Winds will be a bit brisk, so swimmers’ only real hope of shelter will be around high tide on the west coast. Those highs being around lunchtime in the first half of the week and then in the late afternoons for the second.

The next forecast update will be on Friday or Saturday…
