Monday
Weather
The previous night’s drizzle will clear off around breakfast time, but possibly return in the form of a brief morning shower, and then more definitely about 12 hours later, as overnight rain and drizzle. The wind will be a force 5 WNW’ly for most of the day, then a WSW’ly overnight. This will bring partly cloudy skies, so the finer moments should see temperatures rise to a max 14°C in most places (maybe 15°C in Town), then only fall to a minimum of 12-13°C during the night time.
Surf and the Water
Very messy surf, you must be used to that by now, however, with the west coast holding about 6-8 feet at dawn, dropping to about 4-5 feet by dusk, there is the chance of a clean and rideable south-coast wave if you don’t leave it too late. As for windsurfing and kitesurfing, conditions are looking great again… the sooner the better. And for swimming, Fermain will once again be the best spot, followed closely by the likels on Petit Port, Saints Bay and Moulin Huet. Tides will be 7.8m high at 9am and then low at 3:20pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
Tuesday’s winds will be force 5 W’ly at dawn, relaxing to force 4 by dusk, then on Wednesday they will be just light force 2-3 SW’ly. Skies will be mostly cloudy both days, but there will be the odd ray of sunshine slipping through (mainly in the afternoons), and there will probably a little rain at times (mainly in the mornings). There should be a marginal improvement in temperature, peaking widely at 15°C each day, and certainly feeling much more comfortable on Wednesday, due to the merciful relaxarion of the wind.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 3-4 foot surf on Tuesday, then clean 1-2 foot surf on Wednesday. Neither day looking special for windsurfers or kitesurfers, except for briefly on Tuesday morning. For a swim, east will still be best of all, but the other coasts won’t be too shabby on Wednesday. Tides will be 7.4m high at 9:40am Tueday and 7m high at 10:30am Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Thursday’s SSE’ly wind will gradually pick up to fresh force 5, then Friday’s SSW’ly will go from fresh force 5 to strong force 7, or possibly even gale force 8 in the evening. Both days will be mostly cloudy, with showers or longer spells of rain expected in the late afternoons and evenings on this occasion. It will also be much heavier than the previous few days, so we can expect some pretty large puddles. The wind direction will at least be the recipe for a decent hike in the temperature, with likely maxima of 16°C or perhaps 17°C both days.
Surf and the Water
3 foot surf on Thursday and then 4-6 foot surf on Friday. Both days amazingly clean, although the strength of the wind will be hard to handle on Friday (awesome for hardcore windsurfers and kitesurfers though). Tides will be high around lunchtime, 6.8m and 7m respectively.
The Weekend
Weather
Friday night’s howling SSE’ly should relax to a moderate SSW’ly on Saturday, then veer to a fresh WSW’ly on Sunday. Both days bringing a mixture of cloud and sunshine, with the odd shower likely, but nothing too serious. Temperatures remaining on the mild side, likely peaking at 16-17°C on Saturday and then 15-16°C on Sunday. Night time temperatures probably no lower than 13°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf looks about 4-6 feet both day, probably clean on Saturday but choppy on Sunday, although that detail could easily change. Windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions are looking great both days. Tides will be low around breakfast time and high in the mid to late afternoons (7.6m and 8.3m respectively).
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning…
