Thursday
Weather
Well hasn’t the mildness been lovely, and it’s set to continue, albeit with increasing wind and cloud. The loveliest time of day will be the morning, when soft sunshjine will filter through the thickening cirrus cloud. The afternoon will then be more overcast, but the rain will hold off until at least 7 or 8pm. Winds will increase from a libght force 3 SSW’ly at dawn to a fresh force 5 SSE’ly by lunchtime, then a strong force 6 S’ly by late evening. Daytime max temps of 14-15°C can be expected widely, followed by an overnight minimum that is barely any cooler at 13-14°C.
Surf and the Water
2 foot surf, disappointingly small but amazingly clean. Great for swimming in the early morning, probably good for windsurfing and kitesurfing late afternoon#. Tides will be high 6.8m at 11:50am, then low at 6:40pm.
Friday
Weather
Very windy all day… strong force 6 SSW’ly. Mixed cloud and hazy sunshine, along with occasional heavy showers, the majority of which will be in the morning and again late evening, towards midnight. Not feeling too comfortable in that wind (unless you find some decent shelter by a sea wall or a wooded valley). The air temperature will be nice and high though, holding steady at 15-16°C by day and only falling to 12 or 13°C overfnight.
Surf and the Water
Woah! That’s more like it... the surf will still be super-clean but this time we are talking about a solid 6 feet. Paddling into waves will be challenging, though due to the strength of the offshore wind. Awesome news for hardcore windsurfers and kitesurfers though. Tides will be low around 7:30am, then 7m high around 1:30pm.
The Weekend
Weather
Friday night’s strong force 6 S’ly should relax to a force 4-5 SW’ly on Saturday, then veer to a W’ly on Sunday. Both days will bring some heavy showers… mostly in the afternoon and evening on Saturday, then in the morning on Sunday. If you’re looking for some lengthy spells of bright sunshine, then Sunday afternoon will probably be the time for you, with the east coast feeling warmest due to sheltering. Temperatures remaining on the mild side, likely peaking at 14-15°C on Saturday and then 13-14°C on Sunday. Night time temperatures probably no lower than 12°C on Saturday night and 11°C on Sunday night.
Surf and the Water
The surf looks about 4-6 feet both days, cleanish on Saturday but choppy on Sunday. Windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions are looking pretty decent days. Swimming conditions generally best in the east. Tides will be low around breakfast time and high in the mid to late afternoons (7.6m and 8.3m respectively).
Next Week
Weather
SSW’ly winds for the vast majority of the week, sometimes nudged a little more to the SW, sometimes the S, sometimes as light as force 3, sometimes as strong as force 5-6. A total mix of cloud sunshine and showers. Some of those showers will be heavy, but the whole kabbodle will be nice and mild, with daily max temps around 15-16°C and nightly min temps around 12-13°C.
Surf and the Water
3 foot surf on Thursday and then 4-6 foot surf on Friday. Both days amazingly clean, although the strength of the wind will be hard to handle on Friday (awesome for hardcore windsurfers and kitesurfers though). Tides will be high around lunchtime, 6.8m and 7m respectively.
The next forecast update will be on Saturday or Sunday…
