Wednesday
Weather
A cloudy morning, with the slight chance of a light shower or two. Some sunny spells developing in the afternoon though, which combined with a moderate force 4 S’ly breeze, will lift temperatures to a max of about 16°C. Cloudy night skies will then keep things very mild (no lower than 13°C), but there will probably be a spell of drizzle after midnight, which might linger right through to Thursday morning.
Surf and the Water
Low tides will be before sunrise and after sunset. High tide will be around 11:30am (7.5m). West-coast waves will be super-clean again… 4-5 feet at dawn, 3-4 feet by dusk. Swimming conditions will be best around high water, give or take an hour or so, either on the north coast or in the more wave-protected west-coast bays.
Thursday
Weather
Any early mist and drizzle should clear to brighter skies late morning and maybe lunchtime. Skies will get cloudy again in the afternoon and then a spell of slightly heavier rain is expected in the late afternoon. Winds will be quite a lot lighter than recent days, only light force 2-3 SSE’ly in the morning, increasing to moderate force 4 through the course of the afternoon.Max temp once again around the 16°C mark, min temps no lower than 13°C.
Surf and the Water
Another day of super-clean west-coast surf, 3 feet at dawn, 2 feet by dusk. Swimmers will once again find the best conditions around high tide, either on the north coast or in the more sheltered west-coast bays. Low tide will be at dawn. High tide will be just shy of 1pm (roughly 7.3m).
Friday
Weather
Another day with rain in the morning and sunshine in the afternoon. The SSE’ly wind a bit stronger though, blowing moderate force 4 all day. Once again taking the temperature to an unseasonable mild max of 16°C. A chillier night than of late though, with skies staying clear and super-starry, whilst the wind relaxes to light force 2-3… min temp 10°C.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean but rather tiny surf... 2 feet at dawn, only 1 foot by dusk. The best swimming conditions being around high tide in the west and the north again. Low water will be at 8:10am and high water will be at 2:10pm (7.4m).
The Weekend
Weather
A general change in the feel of the air, as the force 3-4 wind veers ESE’ly on Saturday and then NE’ly on Sunday. This will lead to a decline in temperatures… Saturday peaking at 14-15°C. with a mostly cloudy skies and occasional showers. Similar weather on Sunday, but the new wind direction preventing the temperature from climbing any higher than 13°C. The most comfortable area will the west coast on Saturday and then the south coast on Sunday.
Surf and the Water
Clean but tiny waves on Saturday, only about 1 foot, so it’s uncertain whether they will even be surfable. Sunday’s waves will increase to about 3 feet but unfortunately the wind will make them rather messy. Swimming conditions will be best in the west on Saturday, then best in the south on Sunday. Low tides will be in the mid-mornings and highs will be in the late afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Friday…
