Saturday
Weather
Maybe a little brightness at times, but cloudy for the most part, with dsome potentially heavy showers coming and going from mid-morning onward. Winds will be ESE’ly (only light force 3) rather than the S’ly, so the air won’t be quite as mild as Friday was, probably peaking around 15-16°C. The most noticeable cooling will be in the night time though, when temperatures fall to a minimum of 10°C.
Surf and the Water
Tragically flat in the surf department I’m afraid. Some lovely swimming conditions though, with the 14°C sea water and the mild air making this mid-November feel more like early October. The west coast will be best for swimmers, but the other coasts will be almost as good. Tides will be low at 9:15am and high at 3:10pm (7.6m).
Sunday and Monday
Weather
The cooling will be really noticeable now, with a force 4-5 NE’ly wind on Sunday and then a NNE’ly on Monday. This will feel preoper chilly, making the 12°C maxima feel more like just 8°C. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with occasional showers, on Sunday. Monday should be sunnier and probably dry, but definitely no warmer. On both days, it would be best to head to the south coast in order to feel more comfortable, if you’re heading out for a nice long walk.
Surf and the Water
Some 1-2 foot and probably rideable waves both days, if it wasn’t for the cross-shore wind making them messy and useless. This wind will mean that the south coast is nicely sheltered though, so the swimming conditions will be good down there. Low tide wiil be in the late mornings and high tide in the late afternoons (7.9m and 8.2m respectively).
The Rest of Next Week
Weather
A chilly bunch of days, with max temps between 10 and 12°C, and min temps between 6 and 8°C. If there’s likely to be one marginally warmer day then it would be Tuesday, because the wind will be a light force 2-3 WNW’ly on that day. The other days will have force 5-6 NNW’ly, so they are really going to feel quite nasty. We can expect some sunny intervals, but they will likely be very brief, as the sky will tend to be dominated by bubbly cloud and intermittent showers every day.
Surf and the Water
Tuesday and Friday currently look flat, but it looks as though there could be a 3 foot swell for Wednesday and Thursday. However, much like the temeperaturex, it will be very much ruined by the frigid northerly wind. Once again, south will be best on most days if you’re thinking of swimming. Tuesday is the only exception, when the east coast will be the most sheltered. Tides will be high shortly beforec dawn and after dusk. Low tides will be around lunchtime.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
