Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 12 December 2025

Saturday

Weather

A totally gorgeous winter’s day, with just the gentlest breath of a S’ly breeze, bringing mild air and soft sunshine. The temperature should peak at a very pleasant feeling 13°C in the afternoon, and then fall to a more typical minimum of 8-9°C. during the evening. Everywhere should feel lovely on this day, so no need to hide in any particular corner, just be sure not to miss it, because such days are rare on a December weekend.

Surf and the Water

Whopping great waves for surfers on the west-coast. Smaller but still surfable waves on the north coast. All of it lovely and clean. Great swimming conditions on the east coast in particular, but also not bad on the south and the north, if you don’t mind the gentle heave of that west-coast swell as it comes around the corners. Tides will be low shortly before dawn and just 7.2m high around 1pm.

Sunday and Monday

Weather

Whilst remaining a mild S’ly, the wind will get a bit lively on both these days, compared to Saturday… strengthtning to fresh force 5 by late Sunday and remaining so through Monday. All the while, the cloud will be increasing too, first a hazy white sheet of cirrus on Sunday morning, then the beautifully textured grey of medium-level cloud early afternoon, and finally the gloomier dark grey of low cloud, which will be ready to turn drizzly during the night time and probably through much of Monday too. Daily temperatures likely peaking around 12°C, nightly temperatures likely hovering around 10°C.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 3-4 foot surf on Sunday, increasing 5-6 feet on Monday. Wind-surfing and kitesurfing conditions should be pretty good too. Swimmers will have to seek shelter though, so it would probably be best to head to somewhere like L’Ancresse around high tide. Those highs being 7.1m around 2pm Sunday and 7.4m around 3pm Monday. Low tides will be around breakfast time.

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

And then it’s back to an alternating pattern of soggy low pressure systems and semi-sunny ridges of high pressure. Different winds and different weather each day, so if I give you the details right now then it would only take a 6-12 hour shift in the story and all plans would be ruined, even if the general scenario is perfectly correct. When it rains, the it could be on the heavy and persistent side, so we will see some pretty big puddles at times, and as granny might say… ‘woe betide’ if you forget to unpeg your laundry at the end of a random sunny afternoon. As for the temperature, continuing mildness will be the broad description, albeit with minor fluctuations determined by those finer details. Maxima typically between 10 and 13°C. Minima between 7 and 10°C.

Surf and the Water

Tides will shift forward each day, with the lows initially mid-morning lows but coming around lunchtime by Friday. High tides will initially be in the late afternoon, but be soon after dusk by Friday. Waves will vary in quality according to the daily changes of the wind, but they will always be on the large side, especially on Thursday, which currently promises to be just as huge as this Saturday.

The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
